.....now is it just me, or do these Canyon Iridium Droppers look suspiciously like the ubiquitous Brand X, and if so they're a bit of a bargain even though they don't include a remote.

Bought a spectral but with 150mm dropper it was a tad too big so got the 120mm dropper from Ebay and its spot on. Worked out perfect for me as the cables were already in place and routed.
There are a few other brands that have adopted the dropper and renamed it such as Bird.

Yup, although it seems to be a sealed unit, there's no air valve at the top. Newer Brand-x posts are apparently the same.

Doesn't affect it in use, but I guess at the end of it's life when seals are leaking a bit you won't be able to just top it up every few months to eek a bit more out of it. for £50 though who really cares (other than polar bears, the excessive consumerism isn't great for the planet).

ztto lever off ebay, you do need a solder-less nipple of the correct size, or just use a gear cable and bodge it at the post en, it's the wrong shape obviously but sits just fine in the hook.

Just got one of these : it looks very like the Brand-X it replaces.

Also you can get them direct from the above ebay seller's website for £45 (register and use the discount code). Free delivery. 30.9 x 120mm only as far as I can see.
