I’m mulling getting a XL Bad Boy to cycle on my 11 mile commute. Specifically the Alfine version. Does anyone have any experience with them - are they comfy? Good to ride? Any downsides?

They look great in the flesh, and I’ve always had a Cannondale itch...

Mate has one, he likes it. They do indeed look stunning in the flesh.

Cheers Marty. No issues with it all?

I’m mulling fitting a rack and guards too, which would make it decidedly less cool...

I had one after running a steel Kona commuter, was too harsh over broken knackered roads. Sold it and replaced with a steel gravel bike. Depends how long your commute is and over what type of surface.

Interesting. Commute is over fairly decent roads. Did the 40mm tyres not soften the ride enough?

I cant remember what size tyres I had on it but it was one with rigid forks and it was as stiff and unforgiving as a large steel gate. They are good for point and squirt hacking through cities and traffic but plodding to work and back everyday was torture - although I may have been softened by riding a noodly steel frame for years beforehand.

Chap at work had one and returned it for the same reason as too stiff and unforgiving. Not sure if he played around with the tyre pressures or not. He swapped it for a pinnacle hybrid instead and was happy.

I was looking at one a few years ago and was put off for the reasons stated above. Also seemed pretty heavy for what it was. They do look cool though.
