I have narrowed my search for a general use with the family and some commuting bike down to this, which i can get on C2Work. Anyone got one and how do you like it ?

I don't expect/need it for any serious off road duties and already have a HT,FS and crosser.

Ive got a bad boy which I used for commuting earlier this year. It was the perfect bike for the path/bridalway/tarmac 12 mile round trip. Mine is the v brake version tho' and is still for sale!?

I use a 9 year old badboy frame which I have built similar to original spec and it's the perfect commuter for me.

got the 700c one with disks, put simply i love it. As with anything i've tweaked it a bit but it's been cracking for my commute.

Also 1 year on and apart from a chain, spoke replacement and lubing thats all it's needed.

I've wanted one for years but never got round to buying - I was in the shop last year but the one I was looking at wasn't drilled for a rack. Bollox oversight really for a commuting bike. Was told that's how they were.

A colleague at work recently got one with a rack drilling though, so it obviously varies between models - regret not getting the straight of it at the time as I had the cash to buy.

this is the one I am going for :

looking at the pic I reckon I'll be flipping the stem over though !

feedback sounds good so far. What is the clearance like for putting on some knobblier tyres for some gentle off road with the kids ?

Try it without flipping the stem. I find mine puts me in a position closer to my road bike yet upright enough to look forward and through traffic. It's a little more aero and makes a big difference.

The new one looks a little fat but I think it's just those kojac tyres. i HIGHLY recommend the Conti GPs I'm running. fastest 26" tyre out there and they don't look much different to the GP4000s on my road bike. Black Chili versions on both. If you are venturing off tarmac, the frame in mine is basically an MTB frame and would take a 2" tyre I'm positive without any problems. Probably even larger.

Many thanks for the info Surfr. I'll try is as it comes, stem and tyres, and then look at those Conti's

not a badboy, but this 9 year old 900SX has proven it's self to be the perfect commuter for my 30-40 mile round trip
