i have a lovely kinesis sync ti ht that i've had since around 2018 (it's 27.5"). the problem is that when i ride it nowadays my lower back screams after a while even when riding the k & a towpath. i did buy a specialized chisel fs bike last year and it is great but very heavy as it's the lowest model in the range.
i have actually been thinking about riding my sync again offroad but with a suspension seatpost to see if that helps my back problem?
if it did work and help my back i would actually think about selling the chisel and using the money to upgrade my sync (it actually has some decent parts fitted to it just not the latest or best stuff.
what suspension post might you recommend for offroad use to help my back?

it just feels a shame to not ride the sync any more as it's still a great bike just not the most modern geo or wheelsize but at 5ft 5" i prefer the smaller 27.5" wheel to 29".
thudbuster style seem to get good reviews
stay away from the ones that look like droppers. from my brief experience of trying one out, it just feels like a broken sagging dropper - which for me at least would give me both back and knee issues.

I had the same problem a few years ago getting a painful lower back ride my hardtail.
I bought a USE Vybe and the pain went instantly. I use it on my gravel bike now and it will stay on whatever bikes I have in the future. It is brilliant for seated XC riding across bumpy ground and is no hindrance on the road. You can adjust the spring so it might take a few rides to get it right but mine was fine out of the box.
I did pick mine up for about £90 but prices are a lot more now.

I bought a 400mm x 27.2mm USE Vybe for my mums turbo Vado SL for Xmas but the post was too long for her seatpost tube in her small frame doh!, so that’s sitting on my shelf, I’ve since bought her the Redshift Shockstop Endurance and she says it’s fantastic, removes all the road buzz and thumps from potholes here in rural Galloway.
