Or is it pointless? does it mess up the geometry?

Old one is pretty much perfect with a pike set at about 125mm.

I've run mine at various settings between 100mm for mincecore/glentress etc to 160mm for big business. 125/130 isn't bad, although I find 140 is the sweet spot.

Run my old one with pikes at 140 mm and love it.

best not to worry about geometry - it changes every season. Slack one year, tight the next. See what the bike feels with the front end raised on some wood or lowered to the height you fancy. If it seems tolerable then buy the forks and give it a go.

my 150mm Sektors are usually at 140mm, TBH, I cant remember the last time I changed the travel. I tried them a bit shorter and in singletrack, steering was fine and dandy!

i tried 130mm rev's on my older Long model - mainly to drop a bit of weight from the bike, but found that it was much better with 140mm pikes

Run mine with 140 but imagine it would be fine.

Chunkypaul's is mine now.

I quite fancy trying something like 100mm forks on mine. Only ever had 140s on it...
