I have new 2012 solo airs and they came 170mm as default, had to be spaced down to 160mm travel.
Ring loco or tf tuned, they will probably know.

An angle reducer headset would probably be cheaper and be more beneficial.

Yes you can but it'll be expensive as you have to change internal parts.
