I'm asking pretty much the same question differently in another thread but maybe not as clearly.
I see Raceface have 32 + 36T 104 BCD rings. Not entirely sure if they are outer 2x10 ones, even after asking raceface i'm not 100% clear. I'd like to swop out my 38T Shimano outer and run either of the two smaller sizes.
I see that my matching 2x10 front mech is listed as 38 - 44T compatible, so i hope going to 36T would still work, not sure about 32T.
I think the 14T rule is not to be exceeded, i guess it's fine if I'm within that teeth limit for front shifts.
Any real world experience out there?

Try it... Maybe buy a cheap steel one to try and upgrade later..
