I'm in process of putting my bike together and since my new frame is longer it became apparent my existing cable was short. As a result I just grabbed a clarks cable kit from Halfords and that one is too short too.
Can anyone recommend a cheap long gear cable outer? Im guessing 2.2m or something?
Thanks.
I bought a roll of it years ago and just cut off what I need.
Massive link for your (in) convenience.
Most cycle shops sell it of the roll or even ebay https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/281366924815?var=580397563592
Chain reaction etc sell it by the metre I believe.
Or you can use your existing cable and an offcut with a cable joiner. eg: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/202418026219?chn=ps&var=502439993723
Not as nice as one piece but saves throwing away a functional bit of outer.
If going to the bother of joining two bits of outer together, use something that adds something extra: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/162525452073 - Middleburn cable oilers are the nuts.
I've got a reel you can have a chunk of if you let me know the actual length you need.

Thanks guys.
I did a bit of a bodge and cut an old one and butted it up against the new one. It should last a short while until I sort it out.
Building a bike with the intention of using old stuff is a way more annoying venture than I'd imagined lol
