Just about to fit a new 10 speed shifter/mechs/cassette/chain. Can I run these with 9 speed chain rings or is it 10 speed rings time?

They'll work fine, thats how mine is set up

I've got an 8sp little and a 9sp big on my road bike with a 10sp chain, all works fine.

Fine on SRAM as that's how I roll, can't comment on Shimano.

Shimano works fine, I got a 10 speed 24, 9 speed 36 and a 10 speed 44 triple with 10 speed chain on my ridgid at the moment.
