After years of using the trusty VW Sharan & the bikes going straight inside we have a estate which is OK but I still prefer the security of the bikes being inside the old girl.

I'm looking at a Thule T2 3 bike rack but being a virgin!! would appreciate any help from owners, I've seen one that tilts down & that looked useful also I'd like it to be easily removable & stow in the car or garage.
It's going on a A4 avant.

Cheers

There's been a few threads lately on tow ball mounted racks - my contribution to each has been that I looked at the Thule and bought the atera! V pleased with it myself and think it's worth considering.

Depending on the car, the tilt option doesn't always allow access to the boot, so if this is important you want to check prior.

Be sure to check maximum weight your tow ball can take, this is determined by your vehicle, some cars have maximum weights that come perilous'y close to a rack and three full suss mountain bikes.

If you're in the clear on that front them look at getting one of the 3 bike racks like the Euroclassic or Velocompact that can take an extra bike adaptor taking it up to 4. They tend to be more spendy as they need a really chunky clamp to take the 4th bike but you never know when the extra capacity will come in handy.

I have a little used but dusty Thule at the back of the garage, what looks like a 9503. Seem to remember it tilted. Anyway don't have tow-bar any more and open to cheap offers, £75 accepted, or if you just wanna try one out, live in Haxby. Email in profile.
