Strange one. Can anyone shed any light on this?
Chainrings and cassette are both relatively new, I was using a Shimano chain without issue. I’ve since replaced the chain to a new KMC X11 and noticed lots of burrs along the edge of most of the chain links after a few rides. I managed to get one stuck in my finger like a splinter!
The chain appears to have meshed just fine and is just as quiet as before.
It’s just a bit alarming to wipe the chain down with a rag after a ride through fear of cutting ones finger off and noticing lots of metallic shiny bits of chain in the rag afterwards!
It’s a road bike, ultegra cassette and Cannondale Spindering setup. Neither the cassette or chainrings look worn.
Chain purchased from a reputable source? Could it be a cheap copy?
Are they actually burrs attached to the chain, or ‘swarf’ from cassette/chainring stuck in the chain lube?
I bought it from wiggle so pretty sure it’s genuine. I bought two at the time and put the other on my mtb and that’s fine. Yes the burrs are definitely on the chain. If you carefully run your finger or a cloth along it you can feel and see it snagging.
Plating coming off?
Take it off clean it up ask for refund if it is.
