Hi,
I need to build up a bike for a lady friend. I want to use loads of the spare parts I have and hang them off a hardtail mountain bike frame for her.
I've therefore been looking for a small sized frame (14"-16") as she is 5' 4" but the search hasn't gone too well - can anyone suggest anything??
Disc brake tabs would be handy but otherwise any kind of hardtail MTB frame up to about £300 would be good.
I think I'll use some rigid forks I have which are about the same length as a 120mm suspension fork.
Any help would be much appreciated.
In the past I've used Inbreds and Merlin Malt frames to do this but there aren't many about atm it seems.
Cheers 🙂
I picked up a Kona Shred (XS 13") from CRC for £300 for my 5'3 wife.
It's a great size for her, and it nice and ridable.
I have a small blue Gary Fisher Tassajara GS frame (with bontrager cranks fitted) lying around if you're interested, hardly used (as she gave up within 6 months), disc brake only, low standover and pretty light. She was 5'5 i think. £100 plus whatever it costs to post a frame.

Rock Lobster 15" ? Has a short tt.
i've got a small giant gtx frame, head set, stem, bars, seat post, seat clamp and crank set you can have for £100.

get one the colour she likes, no matter how much it weighs.
Ask bikescene.co.uk if they can get a 15" Hardrock / Rockhopper frame...?
My good lady (of simmilar elevation) has such a beast & it fits a treat. Has 440mm Exotic carbon forks, & even with Deore level kit its very light.

On ONe?
Merlin Malt makes an excellent and lightweight basis for a build. Bought a whole bike off here last year for my wife which has been fantastic.

Possibly have a pretty much unused small inbred frame - it was for mrs o but she ended up with a soul instead, if you're interested.
Im in a similar situation, Mrs Slacks' P7 was stolen last autumn and we're now looking to replace. Given my own very recent purchase, my plan is to swap bits from my Superlight to a small hardtail frame that will accept 100mm forks... Would prefer steel but tbh the bike is mainly used for commuting. Ideal frame size would be 16".
@ononeorange - could be what we're looking for! Frame size? Dropouts? Location? And colour?! My pm is in my profile if you prefer. Thanks.
slackalice - just emailed you
Thank you ononeorange! Although, as yet.... no email received 😕 Have just checked my addy in my profile and it is correct.
Or am I being too hasty thinking that emails are instant, as in speed of light instant?!
Hmmm...odd. It is correct and I just tried re-sending.
The pigeon's obviously tired.
Got the resent one!! My reply back atcha!
This. I spent months trawling classifieds, ebay, etc for a frame for my missus. Had to let some lovely ones go as they weren't the right colour and ended up paying a little over the odds for an 8 year old frame that was the right colour. Still, she's happy so it's worth it!get one the colour she likes, no matter how much it weighs.
Some good leads to follow up.
Thanks guys 🙂
A friend of mine is selling a Giant Trance FS frame in a small, possibly extra small. She's 5'2". Looking for £200 and that includes Fox shock, headset and possibly a seat post.
