I've not used it for (quite!) a while, but am thinking about giving it a go tonight - I usually trundle all the way to the end and cross over from Avon Street into Temple Quay/the back of Temple Meads using the S-shaped foot bridge (probably has a 'real' name). I understand there has been extensive redevelopements on Avon Street - is the bridge still open, or is there another route over the river now?

there's a new bridge right next to it that you go over. is pretty well signposted and reasonably obvious.
