Airdrop have this year's Edit MX on offer at the moment.
€3360. Saving of over a grand. Brilliant. GF wants a new bike.
Works out with import and local VAT that saving is totally wiped out.
Yay!
And you’re in Germany? Chances of it never actually getting to you are quite high as well. Used to be one of the easiest and cheapest countries to ship to, now it’s quite Kafkaesque.
That €3360 is already without VAT though, the UK sale price is £3,374.25 - which is just under €4000
I live around the corner from Airdrop HQ. Pay my petrol money and I'll deliver it.

Fancy combining it with a trip to the Alps?
And you’re in Germany?
Not anymore. I left the Vaterland four years ago. Currently bouncing around between Italy and France.
As per George, you don't pay UK VAT (which is 20%) and will then get charged German VAT on arrival in the country (19% IIRC) so actually a tiny bit cheaper. No duties on the vast majority (all?) of goods made in the UK, maybe a handling fee from the courier (£20 or so?) so should work out about the same
.
EDIT or french or Italian VAT, I don't know their rates off the top of my head but probably similar
It's very nice, that Edit Really like how they've specced it for the price.
Hit it into a a Vibe (European chatgpt alternative) and it spat out 1330€ for Italy and 1250€ for France.

Exactly..... Shame as I was in the UK at the start of the year.
Just stings paying more in the EU than in the UK (and vice versa, obviously).

Yeah, 20% France, 22% Italy
I mean christ, Im a staunch remainer, voted so and would vote to re-enter. But it was 10 years ago now! We know how the rules work nowadays.
Play the system, get it delivered to someones house in the UK and pick it next time your here. Or get someone to drive to Calais and meet them there. If its out of the box and in the back of a car or on a bike rack no-one cares....

In any normal year, absolutely yes. Maybe not with a 6 week old girl at home.
I was supposed to be meeting a big group of mates in Morzine on the 31st but I'll be stuck at home. I should have kept my mouth shut!

I obviously didn't.
Being in Europe there wasn't much that I needed from the UK that I couldn't get within the EU.
If anyone is heading to the French Alps in the next weeks I'll bung you a few hundred and give you a firm handshake/hug if you're happy to bring an extra bike with you...

Where do you think Airdrop make their frames? Where are the forks, shock, drivetrain… etc made?

You don’t get ladies pregnant by having your mouth open 😉
Sounds like you just don’t want to pay VAT, either here or wherever you’re shipping to? Which isn’t a Brexit issue.
Buy here and have someone smuggle it in deliver it to you, you’ll have to pay UK 20% VAT plus what ever you pay the smuggler driver, but won’t pay French/Italian duty/VAT. Having Airdrop do it means you don’t pay UK VAT, pay a courier inc duties, but pay French/Italian VAT?
best thing to do is ship it to France/italy and hope it’s a Friday afternoon when it comes through customs and they miss adding the duty/VAT. I’ve saved loads that way, shipping from EU to UK
