Is it possible to mount an old IS caliper to a post mount fork?
Struggling to comb through the millions of adapters pout there - seems that most are for post mount callipers to IS frames and forks. I need the other way round.
Yes, although it generally involves upping the disc size by 20mm. Last time I looked I think A2Z did some adaptors but that was a while back.
If you want to mount a 160mm IS to a PM fork I have an adaptor that works.
KCNC do one where you can use original rotor iirc works well

only with certain calipers and forks.
doesnt work with minis or tech x2s but it does work with old shimano XTs- the fact they stopped claiming it can do 160-160 speaks volumes.
I have them on 2 bikes with +20 and minis on rockshox forks.
I do want to go up 20mm, I think, but Salsa don't seem to want to to tell me what disc size their forks are designed around. 180mm anyway.
I fitted mono minis to my Rebas whilst building up this Trek, with the same adapter I'd used before. Turns out I'd been using the wrong adapter all along as the bottom of the brake was about 5mm too far out. FFS how many slightly different types of adapter can there be without a proper categorisation strategy?
Confused.

A lot.
Shimano did 180mm rotors.
Hope did 183mm rotors.
Avid did 185mm rotors.
