Looking at one of these kits to upgrade my disc brakes. Currently got shimano deore lx brakes and they work well bite well but the lever does seem a bit squishy under heavy braking. Are these worth spending the money on or anything else you can reccomend?

havent fitted any to a mtb only a motorcycle and yes there was an improvement. Have a look for Hel on crc you may be able to get a front and a rear out of one kit
I never noticed any difference - but it looks good. You have to be careful to avoid the hose rubbing anything, as it will just cut through it...
think it depends on what brakes, made a difference on my m4's
no difference, sell your LX's and put the money you were going to spend on hoses and buy some XT's

aren't they identical apart from the logos ?
Braided hoses will only make a difference if your existing hoses are knackered and as most mountain bike hoses are rigid plastic thats not going to happen! Most of the difference people claim to feel is simply down to the fresh fluid and being bled properly.
They absolutely do make a difference and imo shimano brakes seem to benefit more than other systems. Just compare two identical brake set-ups, one with braided hoses, one without and see for yourself.
Old stlye LX brakes are just fine
They make a small difference in lever feel, unless you are getting a good price I would wait until you need to replace your current hoses.
