Hi all,
No I pride myself on knowing about MTB stuff, components and bikes but this has really got under my skin and I have to ask..
I've just bought a Specialized FSR Expert Carbon frame which as the annoyingly different OS BB 84.9 Pressfit BB... Does this mean I have to buy a chainset made for that specific pressfit (BB91) bb or can I buy an adaptor to fit standard Shimano Hollowtech 2 chainsets.....or do I need 83mm chainsets? As you can tell, I'm very confused about the whole thing, any help would be appreciated.
Marcos
Stumpjumper or Epic or what model of Spesh?
Sorry its the Stumpjumper.
what cranks are you using atm? If its sram then the axel diameter is different. so you need to fit a bb91 to take a HTII axel
I'm not using any cranks atm, I've literally bought the frame without BB or Cranks...
well thats easy then. don't worry it confused the hell out of me too!

haha, I've been going crazy man.
So with the shimano BB i can fit this: http://www.bike-discount.de/shop/k1175/a72691/xt-crankset-10-speed-fc-m785-38-24-180mm-black.html?mfid=43
I bloody hope so I just bought the same for my new 29er
hahahaha thats funny. Well I'll find out too, I've just bought the BB - Fingers Crossed!!
which year is a frame?
I suspect it is a PF30 bottom bracket, which means you are stuck with only one BB on the market, the SRAM PF30 which works with BB30 cranks
you can run other cranks using a Wheels Manufacturing adaptors, but I found these pretty awful for several reasons,
or you can buy a PF30 to BSA adaptor from SRAM which will allow you to run a normal (HT2 or GXP) BB,
PF30 is not fit for UK use, I got through 3 of them in 6 months on my Epic, I am now running a GXP bb using the PF30-BSA adaptor, which was installed under warranty after the 3rd PF30 failure,
Its the 2011 model frame. Someone explained on another forum that its called a BB91, the same as the OS BB... I've bought it....Let see how far I get"!
