Bosch eBike crank options...?

Recently bought an Orbea Wild M10 with Gen4 Bosch CX motor, fitted with 160mm E*Thirteen E*Spec Plus cranks.

2 things have sprung to mind that are making me want to change/upgrade them...

  • Firstly they seem to get terrible reviews online, people accusing them as being made of cheese.
  • Secondly, despite a lifetime of always fitting shorter cranks to bikes as they come stock, I find myself wanting to go the other way as 160 seems very twiddly short to me (I can spin 95+rpm all day on a 170mm long crank anyway) and I am constantly pedalling above where the motor seems most efficient cadence wise, and my knee muscle memory DEFINITELY prefers 165-170mm cranks... Also I'm not a pedal smasher, and the BB height is pretty reasonable anyway.

So... Options...? Seen there's a lot more out there now. Ideally don't want to spend too much, but would like something a bit better at least than what's on there now if not especially lighter (it's a 23kg eBike, 50g isn't going to make a noticeable difference!).

Any reports on the Raceface Aeffect R eBike cranks...?

I have seen the Pinnd cranks, but no feedback on them. Look good, but worth the extra?

What about Hope? Seem to have been the de facto upgrade for a lot of eBike riders for a while now. Not cheap though, are they worth it?

Other options? I have seen the SRAM GX and X0 cranks, and normally would be straight in on the action (have run SRAM on almost every bike for more than a decade now), but actually have full Shimano on this bike and would prefer not to mix and match.

Ignore the first one - people are more likely to complain about stuff online than praise it.
Point 2 is a fair one though...

Praxis cranks seem fine and not spendy.

Also changed the e13s on my Wild before riding them. Have had a couple of sets of Praxis EHD on different bikes, solid. Was a guy selling them for £60 on Ebay at one point.

Also had the Aeffects, also solid

Just got some Pinnd 155s, not ridden yet as I'm recovering from shoulder surgery following a clipped pedal....my brother is having the Pracis off me as an E13 arm fell off his Strive:On last week!

I have heard of a few cases of the Hopes bending. I bought my Pinnds used but emailed Pinnd, they said they haven't had a single set back for warranty

[lights blue touch paper, stands well back] Have you seen the size of some e-mtbers and their 'just plough through it' riding style? If I were a crank, I'd probably deform too...

Raceface would be a good shout and they have the self extract collar making things easier (though you can move this across if your current cranks have it and new ones don't.

I just cheaped out and went with Miranda and they just work, no fuss, no bling.

Cheers all

Found the Raceface Aeffect R's in 165mm online for £75 with a discount code too (usually £120)... No brainer!

Now just to sort out the woefully underpowered stock Deore 4 pot brakes! 👍🏻
