Now I'm down to just the one (off-road) bike I'm after tyre recommendations.
It's a Surly Cross-Check and I think the widest tyres it'll take will be around 1.8"/45mm. There don't seem to be a great number of tyres round this width, I suppose it's too wide for "official" cyclocross and too narrow for "proper" mountain biking.

29 x 1.8" Bontrager dry x's fit just.
I think they do a 700 x 40 Schwalbe Land Cruiser, pretty good all round tyre.
Doubt anything knobbly will fit so you're limited to semi slick 1.8s or fat cross tyres i think?

yeah ive had bonty 1.8 in my crosscheck not dry ones tho cant remember model. Just enough room on the back plenty up front
