has anyone successfully used one of the rear hope hub pro/pro4 boostinators?

any reason why it wont work on a ex471 rim and pro 4? believe the spokes may be not long enough when redished?

its either this option or a new hub built on to my existing setup

You could try dishing it first?

Needs to move exactly 3mm...towards the disc side iirc

I used one recently on a pro 2 evo. LBS redished the wheel no problem (LB carbon with supercomps if it makes any difference). However, I wouldn't get one from the States direct and I believe the previous importers (Levit.cc?) have run out now. I paid $25 for air shipping and then got stung the £17 handling and customs fee by the courier which brought the grand total to £70.... 😥

I faced this recently on 2 rear wheels. Decided to swap hubs instead. Spoke length was 0.3mm different for 3x 650b build.

Just seemed easier and not significantly more expensive. Plus I have spare hubs which would probably offset the cost if I sold them.

By the way, if there's any rumours of a new importer for wolftooth, please let me know.

I used the wolftooth boostinator. Worked fine. Had to order it from the US tho which attracted import duty.

onzadog - I'm starting to think its just easier to do that

so did you basically just have to buy a new hub? did you re-use your current spokes?

if that's the case then its only a rear hub and rebuild cost which isn't too expensive

Quick heads up for anyone contemplating ordering from the US and paying air shipping plus the inevitable duty... these are available in Europe still, just not in the U.K. - and obviously while we're still in the common market there's no import duty from Germany, just a currency conversion fee.

OW, yes, reused the spokes and did my own build. If you wanted to keep cost down further, you could just get the hubshell, axle and two bearing.

New spoke length needed to be 0.3mm longer so less than half a turn on the nipple. I knew I'd got that to spare.

I only got complete hubs as a spare hub is more use than a hubshell.

I've used the DT Swiss converter on a rear wheel, also got hit for import duty. Wheel is all fine, I just re-dished the wheel and so far it's been fine, I didn't buy any new spokes or anything else.

interesting that r2 are selling them also, thanks for that and a good spot!!

may be worth a punt, even then its only 45 quid spent and if it redishes ok, bonus, if not then its only new spokes all round which isn't the end of the world

might be worth a punt trying that first

I doubt very much that you'd need new spokes either way. If replacing the hub shell to get that extra 3mm width needed 0.3mm longer spokes then the same should apply to the drive side when using a boostinator. Similarly, I'd imagine that the disc side only needs to be 0.3mm shorter as you're reducing the spacing that side by 3mm.

Using my clever detective skills I have deduced that you have a new frame which is different to your last one... what did you brake and what have you got instead ?

Lol now then DCI goodwin

Not done it yet, thinking of getting something less travel for the woods find myself in there more and more these days and having 165mm travel just seems a little overkill great in wales etc but still overkill for alot of my riding

Thinking of going to a bronson again but obviously new style, agood solid all rounder plus its bigger and longer than my last one so should fit me slightly better would potentially have gone hightower but new wheels and forks kinda put that to bed

What have you gone for?
