Right I'm entered in the solo category at 24/12 next weekend and was wondering what its like.Is there a running start ala Mayhem,Whats the course like-how hard/technical? Is there asolo camping area? Is the racing more or less serious than Mayhem? Thanks in advance.

The course is (usually) hilly with singletrack and rocky/rooty bits. Proper biking.. enjoy your solo ๐Ÿ™‚

No running start, much smaller field than Mayhem, you don't get the international teams who do Mayhem as the prize money's not as good, but you get the usual quick guys at the front, to the 'have a go heroes' at the bottom, with everything in between. You probably won't win, but you probably won't come last either.

Good course, some decent singletrack, some hills, nothing technical, rides well in the wet, expect a river crossing with a bridge you can walk over if you prefer.

I think there's a solo camping area, but I'm not totally sure. I did a 12 last year and just set up next to the track, did all my feeding and stuff from there.

there is solo camping.

most of the camping is trackside so you can find a good spot.

lovely chilled out atmosphere. feels alot more 'chummy' than mayhem.

courses is a bit more technical, bit more fun than mayhem (imo)

good luck and see ya there.

Significantly more fun than Mayhem! Last year the only shame was that most of the height was lost in one straight, fireroad descent. It was pretty good, but some fast singletrack would've been better!

I think they're might only be two river crossings and they both have bridges XC-Steve.
That said, its pishing it down here in Plymouth right now so the whole thing could end up a river anyway.

I rode through that 13 times last year, I think I was close to developing trench foot!

Much nice atmos than MM IMO - smaller and more chilled out - Routes is pretty much Newnham std - fast, short hills and roots but no drop offs etc - you'll love it ๐Ÿ™‚

It's a great event - great for soloing too. There's a lovely vibe on the course and whilst it's a real challenge I think it's better than SITS or Mayhem for all weather riding. I did the river crossing 16 times and my boots had to go through the washing machine 4 times before they stopped smelling. I cannot wait for this years event!

Trying to decide which bike to take - Fuel EX 8 or Stumpjumper HT, any advice from anyone?

EvilJoe - I think one of our team members has dropped out and no replacement yet found. I'll call the team captain later to find out, send me an email.
