My friend lives in canada and has unfortunately snapped the large pivot bolt which goes in near the bb. Has anyone ever had to source a replacement and what is the easiest route if not halfords?

Wiggle are the Canadian agents so I would contact Wiggle in Canada. First port of call when you have a problem like this is check out the website and contact an agent in your own country as they might just send you one or there may be a replacement (stronger) part.
Hardware store? You can normally find something which fits even it it needs trimming to length.
He has taken it to the machine shop in the University he works in so fingers crossed they have ordered up the right bit. Thanks for the heads up on Wiggle Canada, did not think Boardmans were sold abroad for some odd reason.
