Has anyone got any of he above pedals at all? I’ve just bought some after reading some stuff online about how light they are compared to similar prices Shimano spds (I think they’re lighter even than xtr ones) - and they only cost £26 so similar to either the cheapest or 2nd cheapest Shimano ones.
They’re to use on a road bike (I use flats on my mtbs) as for commuting I find spd-sls a chore to click into when pulling away from junctions, but I DT on fine with spds. I’ve been using m520’s with xc mtb shoes for a while - but when I sell my current bike I’m planning to leave them on there.
On opening the pedal box last night the seals on the inside of the pedal (where the spindle goes in) don’t seem that tight a fit and easily lift out - I can then see a cavity which is full of blue grease.
Has anyone else got these pedals and can comment on longevity of them?
I've got 2 pairs, one on my MTB, one on my gravel bike. Had them for ~18months. Not quite as clean at releasing as the previous shimanos that I ran, but not too bad, and as you say, nice and light. Not had any problems with bearings, but then I don't tend to ride in winter clag very often...!
AFAIK they're Xpedo / Exustar pedals just re-branded, so they'll be good.
We have several pr after reading how light they are. We use them on our gravel and xc bikes. They have a 2yr warranty which we havnt had to use. We have been pleased with them.
Ah good to hear ok feedback - I’d never heard of Exustar or Xpedo but the Boardman pedals do look very similar to some Exustar ones I’ve just found with a quick google.
I was having a mild panic about the seals and considering taking them back and buying he crank brothers candy 1’s they had on offer for £34 instead.
They seemed very light too and a well known brand. A quick google on those suggest they need quite a lot of maintenance to keep the bushing spinning properly though, and the only other composite pedals I’ve had (Time road pedals) didn’t end well with the front completely snapping off after a couple of months of commuting use.
