Looking at Boardman Comp/Team/Race bike for my wife - she's 5'2" (and 3/4, she says!) and has average torso/leg length. Anyone of similar dimensions had this bike for a while and found it okay? Essentially, will the S fit ok? She's just getting into cycling again and will be doing forestry commission tracks as the most offroad, at present, but I'll slowly get her more involved.....

I'm 6'2" and had the large 2011 team fs, was plenty big enough... Would say the small would be the best option as the cockpits are a little on the long side, at least the men's are, i imagine it would be the same with the womens. Btw, in case she decides to challenge it a little more at some point, it performed very well over llandegla black route and on a couple of fod downhill tracks ๐Ÿ˜‰

I've heard the geometry on them is a bit messed up, never tried one though.

I'm 5'2" and i ride a Boardman Performance Hybrid - the flat barred road bike. It's a great fit for me but then i do have a longer torso than most women of my (lack of) height.
I'd say get a test fit on one and see if she likes it.

thanks muddydwarf - makes most sense but kinda spoils the surprise - think I'll take that route though.

My wife is a midget and originally got a boardman fi in small and hated it found the geometry really odd and sketchy lucky for her the rear drive side drop out cracked and so she got to replace it with an fs team in small which fitted far better! I know it'll ruin the surprise but def get your wife to try one or get halfords to ok a return if the size is off.
