Meant to be going next week-end. Is it vaguely rideable or a bottomless swamp? Kind of thinking it is rocky and drains pretty well, but may be wrong?

I wouldn't. It takes ages for some sections to dry out and we've had rain every day this week.

Now I would disagree. The track is virtually all stone. There will be some standing water and there is a soggy bit but thats not a lot.

ermm now that's quite a varied response
from memory (10 years or so ago) the big carry up and the run down past the reservoir are pretty rocky; guess the forest in the middle (Myndd?) will be a tad damp (mattsccm's soggy bit?). Then rocky / stony again up and over towards Pengenfordd?
got another 10 days of blazing sunshine to dry it all out though!
