I am finding that the obvious answer to this question is "use the existing cable routing and full - length outer" but here goes...
I got a Pomp and want to use derailleur gears. I got a clamp-on double stop for the downtube and want to route cables under the bb. Works fine for the front mech, but I need a cable stop for the rear. I bolted a Ragley cable guide on to the dropout but it won't clamp the cable outer (even 5mm) securely enough.
My next idea is to araldite the cable outer in or drill a step into the guide (or fashion one with a stop from some plate steel I have).
Full length gear outer may be best as I can then run the brake cable exposed which should give me some rear brake (currently lacking)
PS I can't drill through the dropout as the bit is stopping, presumably at the weld at the inside of the dropout, will that have hardened?
to answer your ps. smaller pilot hole, sharper drill bit, cutting grease
other than that, whats wrong with existing routing and full length outer?
Wouldn't it be simpler to use a hub gear?
Although the chance to do some creative bodging should never be missed...
Or SJS Cycles have this

(assuming you're drilling the dropout for a mech hanger)
I know someone who has a lovely Alfine wheel for sale, at a very good price... 😉
Surry guys I have the DMR hangers already. That rohloff thingy looks OK - linkage?

Fair point on both counts and as conceded in the OP 🙄 ) - I already tried finish line wet lube though.

It wouold. I have a gear-ed setup and no cash - I have spent about £1.5K on bikes since Xmas though and have another £200 to do on rims, I also want closer ratios than Alfine has for road duties. (24/36/44 - 12-26 8s)
cynic-al - it's sold by sjs as well.
Ta guys. ****in £5 postage charge sjs tossers! 😡
Will try local lbs.
they've always been a nightmare for that - makes small orders a real issue..
It's pretty hard to beat SJS* for all the small bits you can't find in an lbs these days.
To make the postage worthwhile, I usually just round up my order by buying a few extra bits I will need later.
* They even have a Resilion derailleur for sale!
Agreed epi...WTF is Resilion?
EDIT...just googled, no shit like that's going on my bikes! 😡
That Resilion is probably at least 50-60 years old. Talk about old stock!
I nearly bought it just to have it 🙂
Well here's my bodged stop - a RAgely guide (thanks TBC) and a Dura-ace stepped ferrule.
May make up my own (fixed) hanger.
