I got one from Uberbike.

It may be wise to get the headtube and bottom bracket faced, if you're fitting decent parts. I could never get the bb to spin smoothly until I got the shell faced.

I haven't had the headtube faced yet, and it creaks like a creaky thing.

Sorry, I'm not sure which one I bought.

If it's just a normal 44mm ID head tube then this is probably the right one: EX44-40-B5

My Bizango (older black version) had a step inside the head tube that meant I couldn’t get anything with an insert depth more than (I can’t remember - 12mm?). I ended up getting an Uberbike headset as it was the only one with a small enough insert.

Does yours have the step?

^^

Not looked to be honest. I've read that this can be an issue on some frames and people cut down the insert. Not ideal but doable.

The Uberbike one I need isn't in stock sort from with ceramic bearings... And not in black! Lol

That said, the spec says the Superstar headset is 10mm insertion which may well not be a problem hopefully.

I used Uberbike. Good quality.

But be careful: the uberbike headset rings are made from pretty soft aluminium. Means you have to be very, very careful when installing them.

Once installed they last long. The seals of the uberbike headsets work fine. But take time for the installation.

Just fallen foul of that bloody step inside the headtube with the Nukeproof lower cup I'd ordered for mine. Didn't realise until too late, so can't send it back.

How would you go about cutting it down?

Of its an issue with mine I'll either grind the cup down by rubbing it on a piece of course paper on a flat surface.... Of if more needs to come off, I'll cut it off using my Dremel copy I think.

No big issue. If it's the uberbike headset: that's soft aluminium. Nukeproof: no idea

Safest: buy a sheet of very good sand paper. Sand paper for metal. Put this paper onto a flat desk and grind the headset by HAND down. Thin wall stuff.

Takes 5 - 10 min work for the Uberbike style.

If Nukeproof is from steel: well - then you might have to use a machine tool.

I ended up grinding the SS one down by about 0.5mm as the tolerance was tight. Just to make sure.

Used some course wet and dry. 👍

Great!

( Now it's an "custom headset". Turns your bike into a boutique bike... Sad only that this fine piece of work will be hidden in the head tube!)
