Honest not a stealth ad.

My friends son is in need of a new bike and have spotted a voodoo bizango 2017 for £350, which I’m going to view in an hour.

I know it’s a decent first MTB but price seems a bit high, seller says there’s a bit of wiggle room but am guessing not much.

What da ya reckon?

Doesn’t sound too bad in the current market. What else could you get (that’s available) for that money? Assuming it has a Suntour air fork on it and reasonable budget kit etc.

Totally dependent on condition tbh but I wouldn't hesitate if it's in good shape- they're bloody good bikes new. (there's been a few versions but they're all broadly similar, never been a bad one)

Seems like the going price. This is based off being on a voodoo owners FB group and seeing what they go for.

They're generally pretty sound bikes. Only common weak point seems to be the BB. It's an SRAM powerspline and they're the only ones that make them. They seem to fail pretty readily, it certainly did on mine. But that's on the newer bikes (orange). Think the older yellow bikes have a square taper BB. AT 2017 I think yours will be yellow.

Bike was in good nick, so bought. Pretty light for an XL, so that’s good.

Ref. Above post if they are powerspline BBs they are nil stock EVERYWHERE. Just had to swap my partners bossnut cranks to get a DUB bb on it

TBH you replace a tired powerspline BB by removing the cranks and BB then throwing it all in the bin and fitting something with a BB that isn't shit.

But, it's a pretty small drawback when you're getting this much bike for this little money. (that's the entire reason they appear on bikes- they're dirt cheap meaning they can put more of the budget into the parts that really count, and then they're an easy upgrade a year or whatever down the line)

£350 seems good value if it's in decent condition.
I have the 2016 Bizango, well, I think it's 2016, it's the yellow framed one. I don't ride it much these days but it's only a decent set of brakes away from being a really good xc bike. As you say they are really light and if it has the suntour forks they are actually not bad for a budget fork.
The only criticism that I have of it is that there's not much rear tyre clearance so you need a fairly skinny tyre out back. It has sliding dropouts and I've been thinking of making it a winter singlespeed so it gets some use.

Same here.  I bought it for local rides but it turns out riding around flat, muddy fields is as boring on a HT as it is on the FS, just slightly less comfortable.  I've done less than 300 miles on it in the 5 years I've had it which is a shame as it's a great bike.  I took it to the Long Mynd and was surprised with how capable it was.

Yeah I bought it to ride at Brighton Big Dog. It was great for that and I got the bonus of being able to shout "Halfords bike coming past on the left" on the odd occasion I close enough after a climb to overtake someone on the descents 😀

Slightly OT but does anyone know if the newer Bizangos, i.e the Red ones have a straight or tapered fork?
Thanks
