I have previously used Bing Maps for some route planning, as they had an OS Maps view, but am in the US just now and not seeing it. Wondering if the OS Maps view is geo-locked (so you need to be physically in the UK to use), or have they removed this option? Could someone do a quick check?
If not that, and other than BikeHike and the OS's own site, any favorites for GPS route planning that are a) free and b) let you view OS maps?
FWIW I'd like to give a plug to the OS for their Map Finder app on iOS, which I make constant use of when biking.
Working fine for me
I am in the UK and used it ten minutes ago to check the location of 'Walking Bottom Car Park No.2' so yes, working fine.
Ta. OS maps on Bing must be geo-locked to UK then. Thanks!
Yes - won't work outside the UK due to licensing. Nor will any other OS map sites afaik.
VPN to UK server.
@molgrips - BikeHike does work outside UK - although with the little un-resize-able window only for OS Maps. The OS Maps site itself works as well of course, but it's the new vector maps, not the older style maps. Are there any other sites that offer OS maps online, free, that you are aware of?
Streetmap offers OS tiles outside UK.
