im off across to bike this LDP near Lochilphead next week,
just wondering if anyone on here has biked it?,heres the The Kintyre Way website, runs from Tarbet for 83 miles to Campbelltown crossing the penulsia from coast to coast, my brother in law has run it over 3 days and said alot of it is forest roads but the coastal views of Arran on the east side and Jura on the west side should provide some stunning scenery, not to mention a real chance to see otters on the coast,
will do it over 3 days with 2 nights wild camping in the hennessy hammock and meet family at Macrahanish beach on day 3,
Got accomidation via sisters holiday cottage which means lift back from campbelltown to Lochgilphead so logistics covered, will post the ride anyway... skin so soft and midge net on packing list! ๐ฎ
bump...so no one biked this trail?
ok, brother in law has run the 87 miles over 3 days so have rough idea what to expect..will post report next weekend ๐ฎ
Enjoy Bruce ๐
Bruce, this looks really good. Don't forget to sign on and off to get your free patch. We will expect you to sawn it on for the next TBC Wednesday evening ride. Take your camera too and you could win us all some milk! ๐
I've biked some of it. I got the ferry over from Lochranza and did a loop taking in Clonaig, Clachart, tarbert and back to clonaig. There was a little singletrack on that section but nothing to write home about. That section was mainly forest track or wide man made footpath. I'd be keen on hearing what the rest of the kintyre way is like so be sure to write up a report :). Will be back in the area in September so will hopefully do some more exploring then. I think your correct in saying its more about the views and you'll be unlikely to see as sole the whole way. A couple of pics from my route.

Jealous of the trip ๐
Also be interested to hear how you get on. Wouldn't be a problem for me if it is mostly fire-road as I might be able to get my wife and son to do it if it's non-technical.
thanks balfa, will do a report when i get back ๐ฎ
If your in the area, the fire tower trail outside lochgilphead is worth a couple of loops of too.
perfect balfa, sister and family staying west of Tarbet for the week so will have a few days arount Tarbet/Lochgilphead so will check that out too, thanks ๐ฎ
