Just bought a new wheelset for my kona hardtail build, WTB Speeddisk on centrelock hubs, so I bought 2 x 203 rotors from crc since they were going cheap, and my new brakes, tektro augira arrived today and trying to fit it all together is proving a nightmare!
1) When I put the calipers over either rotor the caliper catches on the spokes so the wheel cant spin.
2) The front brake caliper needs to around 5mm closer to the wheel, so the shimano 203 pm to pm adaptor i bought wont work (a mate also has this problem and still hasnt found the solution to it yet)
Not sure what I need to sort the problems, ive been really look forward to riding the new bike but i cant! ๐
Ive also got to take it into my LBS anyway cos me being silly bought the brakes damn cheap online and came from taiwan and being made for the americans probably the front brake is the left lever and vice versa so need them swapping round.
Any help would would be greatly appreciated. Cheers
Don't you need the specific mounting bracket for Tektro brakes not a Shimano one?
i.e. one of these (that are out of stock) http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?PartnerID=2771&ModelID=35541
ah yea that looks good, but then the rotor is still to close to the wheel for it to fit
Been a long time since I saw a caliper touching the spokes, way back in the days of Hope C2 brakes(very bulky calipers)and obscure hubs,so it's possible silly question time-you have got the discs fitted the correct way, have you?Same goes for the brake mount too, not sure of yours but sometimes they can be reversed and will almost fit.
Discs are the same both ways - there's no dish or offsett to them. The only difference is whether the metalwork is being stressed in the directions it was designed to be or not.
I reckon the adaptors are the wrong way up, or just plain wrong..
