I've got my old 2010 Genesis Alpitude Reynolds 853 Steel hardtail hung up in the garage, same as this;

Only changes are it's got a Chris King headset and Hope Pro 2 rear wheel. Is there much of a market for such bikes or is it worth more as wall art? Is 26" completely dead or are they great kids bikes now?

Always a market for it but prepare to be disappointed in terms of the value.

I think it's more of a geometry question than a wheel size. I sold my medium 26" soul last year to someone who wanted it for his son.

I was surprised at this as there are plenty of 26" kids bikes around with modern geometry.

I got £200 for the frame. I also had a Chris King headset which went for £85 and hope hubs sell well.

So probably worth more than wall art, but I'd strip it to get the most money out it.

Might knock the Chris King headset out and put the original back wheel in and see what I can get for it, then sell these parts separate. be much easier to get rid as a full bike as probably not much market for 9x2 SLX groupsets anymore!

I have been trying to sell an almost new medium sized Giant 29er HT for weeks now and not a sniff, so I suspect the 2nd hand market is a bit flat.  I have taken some of the bling off it (reverb AXS for starters) and dropped the price a big chunk, but still nowt.  It is now up for half what is cost less than 2 years ago, with under 75 miles of use, so not dropping it much more - may strip it down..

Old 26ers make great BMX/pump track bikes. Singlespeed it maybe rigid forks and get razzing!
