It's that time of year again and I've made space in the garage. My Giant Defy 2 is looking a little tired, so could do with being relegated to 'bad weather road bike' and I need a new one. What reasonable road bikes are around for about £1300 or so (my LBS will allow a subtle top up)?

For me, 1300 is a not quite enough for good carbon frames. I'd get CAAD10. It rides as well as their Supersix, according to an acquaintance who has both
