cheers sue, that's what I thought. spread the word etc. It was within view but I had my back to it when we were outside the pub, then alcohol ensued, then went on a boat. Understandable in Hackney, but I got too complacent I think, and you don't think your bike is that valuable really, just something you ride about all the time. Is that the lock in the picture that you used to lock it up with? You could cut through that with a regular pair of pliers in a few seconds! Sorry that you had your bike nicked but maybe consider protecting your purchase next time a little more carfeully.

In fairness though RS; Conwy is not the kind of the place where you'd expect that kind of thing to happen, tbh. Indeed, if you went just a short distance from that pub, you could probbly leave yer bike unlocked and it woon't be disturbed. Conwy is on the mainline through to Anglessey and Chester though, so possibly riskier than some of the more outlying places in that area.

Still a **** though.

no that's an old photo for locking my bike outside the window of a cafe. Although to be honest, the lock I had wasn't much better than that, and I have another cheaper bike purely for going to the pub (shoots self in head).

UPDATE! wahoo bike is back! Turns out in my haste to get to last orders I hadn't locked it properly, someone noticed this and took it into pub for safekeeping when we must've been on the boat. Very safekeeping- cos they didn't know when I asked 'em a few days ago. Went in there today with a photo and description and it was round the back! feel a bit of a numnuts, but hey ho - 😀 😀 😳 Think I'll get insured and build a proper shonky pub bike...

We had a bike reported stolen about 2 weeks ago. Couldn't find it anywhere. Today someone up the road from me rang in.

"Um, I've got a bike in my garden, I think it's nicked."

How's that Jim?

"Well, I found it in the bushes by the bridge when I was walking home from the pub. I thought it was Ali MacDonald's and he'd just fallen off on the way home because he was so pissed. I took it round to him today and turns out it's not his. What shall I do with it?"

I put a 100 pound reward on my stolen bike ad I took to pub, and said it still stands, but they wouldn't take it. I'm spending all my beer money there now, at least profits will go through the roof.

£20-25 should get you an ongaurd or kryptonite mini d lock, which should deter most but the determined but then nothing can stop that.
under 1kg locks that can take a beating but are small so can be tricky to lock to something.
