My 11yr old is asking for "biking things" for Xmas.
She doesn't really need any new kit, with a new bike on the cards for her birthday in April.
Was thinking about a skills course.
Any experience of young un's (11 and 9) on courses, any benefit or are they a bit too young?
any reccommendations welcome, Edinburgh area preferred.
My experience is that all kids are very different, in general they don't tend to have the same attention span as most adults either, so a full days instruction can be a bit much for them. They always seem to progress much better when it's done in bite size bits ... 3 consecutive Sunday mornings, maybe 2 hours at a time, as an example.
We've instructed kids down to 8 without any problems and we've instructed 11 year olds that in all honesty could ride rings round a lot of folk.
A few years ago we ran a days instruction for the FC at CyB for ages 9-13. We were inundated ... twas an interesting day ๐
Sorry I can't be more help.

Mostly adult orientated but worth an ask. Got a friend who might want to do the same?
Try Rik at Drumlanrig. I had a really helpful morning with him this summer and I know he regularly coaches youngsters.
cheers, Rik is a good call
