My mates' bike shop North Hants Bikes in Whitchurch (Hampshire) was broken into last night and a number of high-value bikes were taken including a very distinctive Fondriest TF2, Look 566 and several Orbea Orcas.

I'll update this thread with a full list of what was taken once we have taken stock but in the meantime if people in the local area could keep an eye out for any unusual / suspicious sales...

Even though I've not been in yet, that's sort of my new LBS. Will keep an eye out.

Cheers CF.. it's a small local independent run by a couple of guys passionate about bikes - could really have done without this!

Probably long gone by now, but if there's a chance we can catch the scumbags - sounds like they knew exactly what they were looking for.

Went in there a couple of months ago whilst on delivery... Good lads. Will keep an eye out and get the other posties to do the same.

Also taken was random stuff like hydration bags/bladders and a couple of scooters.

Definitely a pre-planned job - they brought all the bikes out into the courtyard and just took they ones they wanted.

The Fondriest is probably most recognisable as there have only been 3 or 4 sold in the UK in this colour scheme...

The Phinx is also quite distinctive in KTM colours:

Brazen.

Assume that this has also been shared with the local beat coppers? They seem really good at the whole "feet on the ground" approach to policing so far. Only recently moved to the area, but to date, I haven't seen any of what I might consider the bike thieving scrote types. One of the things that attracted me to the place, to be honest. I'd imagine that was someone coming from Newbury/The Stoke/Etc as a planned job.

Nasty.

Police have been round and are checking to see if anything's been caught on local CCTV - it was 4am and it would have been a sizeable truck to get over a dozen bikes in so hopefully something's been picked up.

Been there once for a nose round. Is a bit hidden off the road. Like said, the chap I saw was very passionate about his shop. They are probably the other end of the country by now. He does advertise on ebay, so people know what is there etc. Plenty of scum around sadly.

A bump here.

Police are appealing for witnesses following the theft of around £30,000 worth of high end bicycles and cycling equipment in Whitchurch.

Offenders broke into North Hants Bikes on Church Street between 8pm on Tuesday, November 26 and 9.30am on Wednesday, November 27.

PC Paulina Ritchie from Whitchurch police station said: “Did you see anyone suspicious in the area of the Murco petrol station overnight on Tuesday, November 26?

“Or have you been offered any high end bikes for sale?”

Sadly, fat chance they're going to find anything, as it will all have been sold off on thiefbay before you know it. 🙁

sad news! hope something turns up for your mates in the shop. Its a shame the scumbags have cottoned on to the worth of high end bikes.

Strip the frames, cash in at scrappy/throw in the canal.

Sell untracable parts on ebay.

I know this used to be a problem with cars/motorbikes, how was it stopped in the end??
