hello. We are heading up there next month. ย Looking to start a route from staveley area.

what gpx routes are out there please for a ride around 20-25 mile distance. We are all experienced riders, so some decent tech down hills are great.

Thanks

Gatesgarth/Nan bield seems like the obvious choice. You can cut across between the passes (cheeky footpath) or down to hawes water and back up.

I had a long weekend up that way last Oct. Did 3 rides, Nan Bield, 4 passes, Garburn pass. We were meant to do hellvelyn too, but didn't have time.

I didn't think much of Nan Bield, very long slog up and descent was extreme at top and too wet lower down.

Garburn was done on last morning. This would have been a really good descent if we'd done it clockwise! We rode it the wrong way round (anti clockwise), thinking what a great descent the climb would be!

Pick of the rides was 4 passes. Parked at seatoller, for a bloody steep road climb up honister pass. Scarth gap pass, black sail pass, sty head pass. Each descent is well worth the hike a bike up.

All the gpx files are easily found on web, but let me know if you need them (see profile for email)
