Hi, Completely new here so sorry if I'm in the wrong section.
I was wondering if anyone here has, knows someone or has seen a 986 Boxster Roof transport system for sale, looking for something to take the bikes on the car and am a sucker for the OEM system over an aftermarket solution.
I've had a bit of bad luck with finding one recently, having looked around for one for a few years with no luck have now this week missed one when my partner who was meant to bid on eBay for it while I was at work forgot and logged in two minutes after the listing had ended and just after that I spotted a listing in this forums classified with a Boxster for sale with one which had sold the day before I could make an offer for the rack alone.
Any help in finding one would be greatly appreciated.
They are rare.... try posting a wanted on all the Porsche forums especially boxa.net and be prepared to pay for it.
You *should* get the money back when you sell the car.
I had a 911 996 and the OE Porsche roof bars, sold them for double what I paid when I sold the car 7 years later....
I'll be getting a 986 when we move house.. can't run to another decent 996 but I miss the sublime handling, endless brakes and m96 soundtrack.
What timing - Chipps just sold his 986 with the RTS attached. I did say on insta that he could have sold it ten times over easily if he'd sold it separately.
I looked for ages when I had my 986. Any that do come up are snapped up quickly, and not cheap.
Hi OP, it was me on pistonheads who pointed you here, seems I was a touch too late, sorry about that! Best of luck searching.
Yep, sold my Boxster on Thursday, sorry. And it went with the rack to a guy who wanted it and the rack, so I can't even send you his way. I _think_ I found mine on Boxa.net about three years ago, the other end of the country - but you're right, well worth making the effort to get the proper version as it was so secure!
Good luck in the search
Hi everyone, thank you very much for your replies, I had a post of Boxa.net since a week ago and have had a result today, a member has managed to source one for me. It's a fair chunk of change but essentially New old stock so couldn't be happier. I'll look forward to having a go with it once thing blow over enough to go on a bit of a drive and ride. Thanks again for your responses
