Thinking of a road trip further south than Les Deux Alpes, Alpe d'Huez...

are there any good large scale bike parks between there and the sea? What, where?

Plenty of mountains and then hills as you head South, which would give plenty of ride up / ride down stuff. Nothing that I can think of that is chair assisted. Would going into Italy be better if you want to go further, plenty in the Italian Alps for riding, chair assisted and otherwise.

You thinking Pila?

I'm looking for stuff near sport climbing, family friendly campsites and wouldn't mind a visit to that black/grey earth place

Is Serre Chevalier far enough south https://www.serre-chevalier.com/en/summer/activities/cycling/bike-park/

Large scale, there's nothing the size of those resorts or the PDS, but nearly all the winter resorts have their own bike parks running during July and August, so it would be quite easy to spend a week visiting different Hautes Alpes resorts.
Serre Chevalier is a strange one as the dh runs are served by different lifts to the enduro trails.
Les Orres is another, the EWS is paying a visit in July.
La Grave have 6 trails starting at 3200m.
There's also Vars, Montgenèvre, Puy St Vincent, etc.
Further down south of Gap at Digne, there's Evo bikepark.
All of those resorts have lift access, apart from Evo, which is shuttled.

La Grave is pretty awesome but fairly full on if you depart from the top (King Stone Road) ,I really enjoyed Sauze d’oulx as well, more like the uk trail scene (rooty , wooded sections) only one chair but lots of trail options .

I have ridden at Les Orres, PSV, Serre Che, Montgenevre, Pra Loup and La Grave.
Nothing is on the scale of Les 2 Alpes or AdH.
La Grave is bipolar. Mellow and psycho. Often on the same trail. As a result it can be hard to relax as you never know what's coming. My pal wanted to know why we hadn't brought a rope.
Serre Che is ok. Some dizziness inducing berms, and nice larch.
PSV is quite small. 1 day will cover all piste plus some off piste.
Montgenevre was rocky, but varied, and had showers. Nice!
Les Orres has a good variety. I hope EWS doesn't wreck it, a la La Thuile. I go here every summer.
Pra Loup, tbh, I can't really remember, but I don't recall being impressed although it was a while ago. I have skied there too, and felt the same.
I have taken the lift up from Vars, but not ridden back on the trails there.
There is a great trail at Risoul, but I want to keep it to myself...
There is NO END of shuttle/pedal accessed stuff in the Brianconnais area, but not huge lift linked stuff.
You could try Bardonecchia too. Nice ice cream. 2 mountains.

Family friendly? Sport climbing? Pick any campsite from Briancon to Embrun.

There is biking at Montclar too I think, but I haven't been.
