Can anyone recommend a decent bike friendly B&B in Dumfries. I am looking for one that can accommodate 7, or if needs be two that are close by so the group can be split.

Also, recommended bars or curry house would also be great.

Thanks,
Dave.

Can't help on the B&B front but after randomly wandering around on Friday night looking for somewhere reasonable to eat, we happened upon The Doonhamer bistro, excellent food.

I know this isn't what you asked for but, we normally stop at Barncrosh Cottages which is self catering. It's just outside Castle Douglas which has a few pubs and curry house etc. There's a couple of options for sleeping 7 depending on whether you mind sharing or not.

I'm assuming your going to do some of the 7 Stanes routes, we've found it really well situated for most of them (except Glentress).

Just a thought.

We stayed at the Southpark B&B at the weekend and can highly recommend it. Downside is that it's just out side Dumfries and not walkable if you are planning a few drinks in town in the evening.

The Marthrown of Mabie bunkhouse is always a good bet. Right in the middle of Mabie forest, so top banana for night rides. They'll cook you dinner as well for a reasonable price. Not so good for trawling the pubs but you do tend to get the whole place to yourself.

www.glenurebnb.co.uk Just stayed here this weekend for the Ae avalanche enduro and highly recommend it. They also have a garage for bikes. We also took a few locks and parked car in front of garage door for extra security.

Stayed here http://www.ferintosh.net/index.htm .

It wasn't quite as good as I expected, but maybe I expected a bit much given its reviews etc, I have no complaints about it.

They seemed to be trying a little too hard to be scots. Complimentary whisky was nice though.

Stopped here two weeks ago.
Great breakfast.
Spitting distance of Dalbeattie Forest.
Secure bike store.
Wouldn't hesitate to go there again.
