A couple of my mates have expressed interest in riding after I showed them all my GoPro videos from Whistler 😀 Not really sure what to recommend they look for. I have a bike one of them can borrow for the time being but it's not ideal being a rigid SS Trailstar with no front brake!
I was just thinking something along the lines of a steel hardtail with around a 120-140mm fork. I've said to look out for a 2nd hand Trailstar but as they're taller/longer legged than me (both around 6ft ish) I think that it'd be too small unless they find a less common 18".
The kind of stuff they'll be riding to start with will be very tame east midlands bridleways and singletrack but I think they want to get into DH, hence thinking about steel and longer than "xc-length" travel. Budget is probably around £300 second hand which I know isn't going to get a lot, but my first trailstar was £200 posted!
