Hi,

What approach have you taken to adjust the fit on a road bike when moving from mechanical to hydraulic shifters on a road / gravel bike due to the extra length of the shifter hoods? Have you changed the stem length, moved the saddle forward or just put up with the extra stretch?

Has the part of the hood the webbing of your thumb (edit - the thenar web space - every days a school day) rests on actually changed? I was under the impression the hood was longer but all the extra was all ahead of that point. If you use the palm over the ends position a lot it might make a difference, but I'd be surprised it would be a huge difference.

None, the difference was so small - certainly far less than normal movement of my hands on the hoods, drops, tops etc during a ride.

None, and I regularly swap between old mechanical setups, disk brakes and (braked) singlespeeds.

But then I've got massive hands so ergonomically I'm only ever half on the shifter anyway, either 2 fingers over the front or using the bend of the bar for my palm with just the thumb over the lever.

Interesting, it looks and feels further away, but maybe it isn't!?
