As part of "Culturefeast,Stockport’s month-long arts festival" the following may be of interest to anybody local or in the town shopping, scoring drugs or whatever:
Stockport Loves Bikes (St Peter’s Square, 11am – 5pm) – a celebration of the bicycle with mountain biking skills, drop-in maintenance, bike inspired art and bike polo;
If the pavement fountains are left on as well, I can imagine it will make for some pretty spectacular photography (or so the wife says).
As an aside, my daughter and her band are playing on the Market Stage outside Staircase House on Sunday. Although the guys playing instruments are only 12 years old the lead singer is 16 and they come across as an adult band They are being invited to play at a number of festivals and events. They're planning on going out with Greenday's American Idiot and having heard them play it every evening this week (along with their own stuff), it and indeed they are very good.
Sounds good. I might well sashay over.
Just to make sure I've got it right, is your daughter 12 or 16?
Daughter is actually 11 Dave. 12 next month. Sje plays lead guitar, a bit of keyboard and warbles a bit but the youngsters singing is being discouraged becasue the sound immediatley goes all Pinky & perky when they start. It's best when it's left to the front guy. he sounds all grown up 🙂
They're playing at some point on Sunday (no time allocated as yet). The bike events in St Peters Square are tomorrow (Saturday).
sounds great but it'd mean having to go to stockport. I guess it could be camera-worthy. Where's St Peter's square? googlemaps just shows a road.
Down the side of the Central Library Samuri. If you're walking, it's along the one way street at the side of the library. If you're driving and going south on the A6, go past the library on your left, at the next lights (Mc'Donalds on the right hand corner) turn left, up to the roundabout, left again and the there is a big car park on the right. St Peters Square is just behind the buildings opposite the car park. Free car parking all weekend in all of Stockports car parks as well.
