Need to get something for those trips away when the boot's full of clutter and there's nowhere to put the bikes.
Don't mind whether it's roof or rear mounted but want something reasonably solid and not massively expensive.
Definitely can't afford to go down the towbar route.

If it's not tow bar mounted then I'd go for Thule Aero Roof bars with ProRide bike racks, but that will still be £300 ish. Bikes will almost certainly cover the lights on a Toureag and the Rozzers are clamping down on this so you'd probably need a lighting board which on a Toureag means a VW specific lighting relay and they aren't cheap either.

more than 2 bikes on the roof and you will need a step ladder!!

I was thinking roofbox too.
Or you could pick up some cheap roof bars and bike racks. Don't have to get the expensive ones. Or 2nd hand ones.
