[Closed] Bike Build Help: Tyre clearance issue with deore front mech?

Hello,

I'm putting together a Kniffenback frame with a 2010 universal top / bottom pull deore 9spd front mech and my 32mm tyre hits the extended cable routing part of the mech (the pivot part).

It's a top down (clamp), however would a bottom up clamp position the cable routing any lower? I don't think so.

What I think i need (short of running skinny tyres) a front mech that has either super low / thin cable routing (the part of the mech that pivots. Maybe a road one or older model mech might do??

Any ideas very welcome ๐Ÿ˜‰

I realise this is an old post but I also had this problem on my 29er. I used an XT M771 derailleur which seems fairly low profile anyway but used a dremel to cut off half of the cable guide/pivot arm. After doing that it can only be used as top pull, since my frame was setup for bottom pull I had to use a cable stop clamp on the top of the seat tube but it gave me plenty more clearance and doesn't look too bad... Let me know if you want some pics. ๐Ÿ™‚
