****in thing! found this in my newly fitted Barzo today.

the thing had not only gone in through the tread but then bursts forth out of the sidewall.

What the biggest thing you've found in your tyre?

Stanley knife blade. Front wheel must have flicked it up then the back wheel ran over it. Tyre underwent rapid unscheduled deflation and when I removed it the blade was loose inside.

New bloody tyre as well 🙁

I have only had blackthorn.
I do have to wonder what bloody animal they evolved to put off. Are they some left over from the days of the dinosaurs?

Of course.  Those trees were growing wild when there were bison and elk wandering around only a few thousand years ago.  But we still have plenty of deer even today.

Thorn of the devil is blackthorn. Got a fair bit of it my hedges. As hard and sharp as they come with sort of weird poison that makes my joints ache, but in a sort of purging way? It's a strange kinda feeling but it feels as if it's doing some sort of good? Anyway, I had a blackbird in my front wheel once, that was messy and feathery 🤔

Ermmmm. Probably not.
They cause arthritis type symptoms. Not helped by bits can break off so although you think you have pulled out a whole thorn you havent.
They can also give blood poisoning on occasion.
Which brings me back to my point about them being ten foot long and razor sharp and yet they felt the need to be poisonous as well? What they hell did these evolve against?

Similar to the OP, picked this up on the commute a few years back. 50mm nail. The tyre didn't deflate but the nail was catching the frame so I carried the bike the last 300m or so to the office.

Blackthorn!
I couldn't believe it when a thorn actually went through my hiking boot and orthotic insole and into my foot the other year! I thought I must have stood on a nail, no just a bloody massive thorn!

Like many a surgeon I've managed to fail to remove a tyre lever more than once. "Strangely regular bumpy road this."

Like the OP ... in through the tread, and out through the sidewall. Surprisingly, the sealant didn't seal!

a Dark Star lapel pin.

If that’s not a sign an immediate pub stop is required then I don’t know what is 😁

I got a bit of metal long enough to be sticking out of both sides of a Conti Gator Hardshell and also catch on my mudguard stays and destroy my back mudguard once. Mudguard and tyre in the bin, but I was kind of glad for the opportunity to get rid of the tyre - didn't like it at all in even slightly damp conditions

I rode over one of those butterfly brick ties ,what a noise that made, as it also took out the front mudguard 😲
I think susepic wins though,a pretty puncture 😉

We had a customer bring back a bike after his first ride, with a 6" screwdriver through the tyre and rim. A goodwill gesture from the manufacturer (sadly, can't remember who), got him back on the trails FOC.

No. It has to be measured in good old British inches. You clearly can’t hold a ruler correctly!!

Oi @bobbyspangles ! You didn't need to bloody throw it back on the track! I found it again this week 😀

This was particularly impressive because the nail managed to go in perpendicular to the rim AAAANNNNNDDDD manage to pierce my nice expensive carbon rims I had just put on, right through the rim bed (like a new spoke hole!). No idea how that is physically possible but it is!
