Hi all...
I've just found a big (15-20mm) chip in the paint on my trek top fuel 8 (2010). It's on the rear suspension 'rocker assembly' next to one of the suspension linkages.
I've just had the bearings(and one of the linkages) replaced by my LBS after the linkage 'fell out' on a ride.
I suspect that the unusual sideways movement (from lack of linkage) damaged the paint.
Should I be concerned now that I have a patch of 'raw' aluminium showing?
PS it's Trek's Alpha Red aluminium if that makes any difference...
Cheers
Phil
Apart from, of course, my terrible spelling which worries me constantly ๐
if you're worried, paint some nail polish* over it?
*assuming you have suitable other half to nick some from
Unless you're riding it in the sea or exposing it to lots of salt water, I wouldn't worry about corrosion. If its the aethetics that disturbs your eye, nail varnish.
For some reason i think the evo links are Magnesium and not aluminium, so yes watch for corrosion, or more sensibly paint it with something
