The Mrs is away this weekend so I have the chance to get out for a big day tomorrow in the Lakes. Now I know the lakes fairly well and have ridden plenty of it but looking at getting out somewhere I've not ridden before. Here are my options any thoughts on how they'll be (current conditions and weather) and which is the best ride would be great.

1. Troutbeck, North up Hagg Gill, onto High Street, cheeky across Ill Bell and then Nan Birld and back round.

2. Hartsop, Kidsty Pike, High Street, Loadpot Hill, Cockpit, Boredale Hause, Patterdale

3. Langdale, Rossett Gill, Angle Tarn, Sty Head, Seathwaite, Stonethwaite, Langstrath, Stake Pass and back.

Any thoughts on these routes? Think weather is meant to be not too bad tomorrow so thought high wouldn't be an issue, unless there's any snow left??

I'd be inclined to avoid cheek on a Bank Holiday weekend..

3. But then I would say that ๐Ÿ˜‰

2 would be great, but after the recent snow I'd be staying away from High Street - it's gonna be a slog. At least 3 is fairly rocky and so you should be ok for keeping out of the snow.

1 is a good ride. While it's cheeky it's way out of the way cheeky, and not for a big distance.

I have heard good things about 3 but have found Langdale to be lacking in quality riding.

1. Troutbeck, [s]North up Hagg Gill[/s] Up Garburn and carry on up onto yoke, onto High Street, cheeky across Ill Bell and then Nan Bield and back round.

FTFY

However, option 3 could include Sprinkling tarn down to Stockley bridge, which in my ever so humble opinion, is the best descent I've ridden in the Lakes!.

You have obviously never been round Kentmere Horseshoe on a bank holiday weekend.....

3.. though better off doing it from langstrath. Rossett up and greenup edge are sh*te especially after the weather this week. Add in the Bash if you wanna make it longer.

I'm actually planning on doing a variant of 2 tomorrow. Starting at Pooley Bridge, with an added up-and-back of Helvellyn/Sticks Pass, and Knott/Angle Tarn/Beda fell. And then Whether hill/Loadpot/Arthurs Pike

How much snow is there on the tops at the moment then?

Forecast looks ok, hoping to be riding by 9 so will hopefully be back before the worst of the weather. Think option 3 is looking like the winner. Might park up at Elterwater so I've a bit of a warm up before the first climb and can also have a pint in the Britannia Inn at the end.
