Im guessing this is an on one? Just after something reliable that I wont need to change the bits on for a while (it'll be for commuting).

Haro/GT etc look a bit poorly specced?

I've got a GT Peace.

It looks a bit of a donkey, but I love it! Full Deore spec, plus Tektro brakes - all very industrial, but a hoot to ride...

If its any help the haro marys are on ebay for £350.

I also have a GT Peace, basically a long travel steel SS.

Do you mean the best value as in bang for your buck or value as in 'Tesco Value' type thing?

I'd say On One for 'Tesco Value'
I'd say Singular Swift for bang for your buck

I mean 'bang for your buck' type of value. Keep the suggestions coming guys. Singular looks nice but a full build might come in over budget...

Ideally about £700ish..

Just done a search on all the Swift threads, looking awfully appealing!

The Mary is about £300 under your budget and is a great bike.

My EBB hasn't gave me any trouble and the Avid BB5s are fantastic brakes, better than the Juicy Carbons that I have on now.
