Staying just outside of betws y coed for a long weekend. Gonna brave taking the full tribes bikes as well as mine. All managed Sherwood pines red, vedererereres fod and follow ya dad at cannock so nothing too gnarly as that's the wife's limit. Was thinking one of coed y brenins trails but I've only ever ridden the proper stuff over there. I shall be however be riding Penmachno early on Friday solo...

Coed Y Brenin blue should keep you all entertained. The Marin trail has had a facelift just recently too and also has a short route option.

For something a little different why not park behind the outdoor shop at Capel Curig and ride the bridleway that runs parallel with the main road through the campsites and then pick up the Sustrans route that takes you through the slate quarries behind Bethesda. you can then park them somewhere and ride back for the car.

I've taken my kids around the Blue at CyB a couple of times this year - both times minime#000000002 has been on his balance bike too. Its a really nice little trail. Plus somewhere warm to sit afterwards and drink tea and eat cake.

Yeah the blues at Coed Y B are ace and plenty friendly for kids.

CYB loads of options

Blue if great.

But there are other bits that will be fine as well. I'm not enough of an expert some one will name other bits of single track that you can link up. "Badger" is the thing to avoid as its the first bit of a few trails and exactly to sort of thing that some riders don't like

Yep, that and Pinderosa are quite hard going in places. But the first section of Minotaur joins after Badger and the second section, the one with the big berms, ends up at the bottom of the road/track you meet after Pinderosa.

Cyflym Coch (sp) is supposed to be the next step up from Minotaur, and includes really good easy red sections like Dreamtime and Uncle Fester, and Pink Heifer, which has a couple of slightly trickier bits (the stream crossing mainly).

The newish skills area is great for mucking about on as well.

I would say CyB too. Lots of great riding opportunities for all abilities. Also, if you're looking for another option, there's a decent ride round Llyn Brenig but's quite exposed and not really as interesting as CyB.

You've not mentioned kids ages, but there's also a playground at Coed y brenin. The Minotaur trail is great for everyone, flowy singletrack, its brilliant.

Also they have the new skills area to try out.

Lots of options, can't go wrong.

As a next step up from the CyB blues, "Dream Time" is an easy red trail and located near the blues.

right.

as above, the Minotaur trail is bloody great.

it's also easy to add extra (easy-ish) bits.

after about 5 or 6k, you'll go over the river, on a bridge, and end up on a gravel road, with the signs indicating you should turn right. This will take you back to the start, most of the fun is over now.

Or... you could turn left, and follow the gravel road round a hairpin, and uphill for a few minutes, on your right you'll find an extra red-but-easy descent.

At the end of this descent, you can either get back on the gravel road back to the start, or go uphill again (a bit further this time, maybe 10 mins to the top), for another red-but-not-hard descent, which'll return you to the gravel road.
